Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

DUNEDIN, FL - Sean Reid-Foley continued a trend of stellar starting pitching for the Dunedin Blue Jays (48-62,16-24) by firing five and a third no-hit innings as the D-Jays defeated the Brevard County Manatees (47-61, 18-21) 4-1 on Beer, Bacon and Fireworks.

Reid-Foley earned his first Florida State League win, twirling his best start of the season for the Dunedin Blue Jays on Friday night. The right hander out of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida, did not allow a hit over his five and a third innings of work. He matched his season high of six strikeouts.

Brady Dragmire entered the contest for the departed Reid-Foley in the 6th inning and struck out both batters he faced in the frame as Dunedin held Brevard County hitless through six innings.

The D-Jays offense gave Reid-Foley two early runs to work with in the second inning. L.B. Dantzler got the offense rolling with his 19th double of the season. A couple of batters later, Derrick Loveless cracked a two-run homer, his seventh long ball, staking the D-Jays to a 2-0 advantage.

Two frames later, in the fourth, Dunedin went to work with two outs. Dantzler kickstarted the Jays offense for the second time in as many at bats by drawing a walk. Dickie Joe Thon then followed with a singled preceding Jorge Saez who picked the pair up on a two-RBI single following a Loveless walk. Saez had three hits on the evening.

That is all the scoring the Jays would need. Brevard County tallied a run in the seventh, but wouldn't get any closer. Brady Dragmire tossed and inning a two-thirds, allowing the only Manatees run. Arik Sikula struck out a hitter over his two-thirds inning on the mound before Wil Browning came in and shut the door. Browning recorded the four-out save, picking up his 16th of the season.

The Dunedin Blue Jays and Brevard County Manatees will reconvene tomorrow, Saturday, August 8th with a 6:30PM first pitch on Ladies Night and Fight for a Cure. Southpaw Alonzo Gonzalez will take the mound for Dunedin against righty Javi Salas for Brevard County.
