Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Chris Zarb had his first two-goal game as a professional and Ryan Munce stopped 42 shots as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday evening.

Martin Frechette got the Sea Wolves on the board when his blast from the top of the slot beat South Carolina goalie Jonathan Boutin low along the ice at 7:49 of the first.

South Carolina tied it up early in the second period when Josh Godfrey jumped out of the penalty box and was fed a breakaway pass that he deposited behind Mississippi's Ryan Munce for his fourth goal of the year at the 5:08 mark. After Mississippi killed off nearly seven continuous minutes of Stingrays' power plays, South Carolina grabbed the lead when Michael Dubuc hammered home a centering pass from Pierre-Luc O'Brien at 13:14.

Chris Zarb evened the game at two when he took Jeremy Hall's breakout pass all the way to the South Carolina net and punched it under Boutin at 15:30 of the second.

Zarb regained the lead for the Sea Wolves at 7:03 of the third period when he broke into the zone and fired a shot from the top of the slot that beat Boutin on the glove side. South Carolina was able to tie it at three when Spencer Carbery banged home the rebound of a shot from Brad Farynuk at 12:11 of the third. Mathieu Melanson's 24rd goal of season stood as the game-winner when he rifled a shot under the crossbar with the Sea Wolves on the power play at 15:48 of the third.

Ryan Munce made 42 saves to earn his 20th win of the season, and the Sea Wolves were 1-for-5 on the power play.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is tomorrow when the Sea Wolves visit the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 CT, and will be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com. The pre-game show presented by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will begin 15 minutes before the opening faceoff!
