New Addition Bombers Have Big Night in Win

Reading, PA- The Bombers looked to carry their winning momentum into Reading as they took on the Royals this evening at the Sovereign Center. The first period was an eventful one as a total of 6 goals were scored during the twenty minutes. The scoring started just a over a minute into the game as newcomer Matt Auffrey added his first goal as a Bomber. The assists going to the veteran Kelly Perrault and Les Reaney. A short minute and a half later the Royals were able to get on the scoreboard when Dinos Stamoulis earned his 3rd goal of the season from Ward and Stevens. The scoring continued at rapid pace as the Bombers Jim Henkemeyer was able to beat the Royals goaltender to notch his 3rd goal of the year. Andrew Fournier earned his first point of the night as he got the assist. Dayton scored their third goal of the period at the 6:18 mark when Matt Auffrey notched his second goal of the night and Andrew Fournier earning his 2nd point of the night. Jim Henkemeyer earned the other assist on the power play goal. Andrew Fournier got his 3rd point of the period as he notched his 1st goal of the game and second as a Bomber at the 16:39 mark in the first, while Logan Bittle earned his first point as a Bomber getting the assist. Paul Drew, starting his 2nd game in two nights, went 5 for 7 for the period.

The second period was a defensive showdown, as both goalies came up big for their respective teams. Paul Drew stopped all 11 shots he faced during the period giving him 16 saves through the first two. The Bombers defense has held the Royals to zero power play goals on six chances through two periods.

The third period saw a goal for each squad. The Royals were able to cut the lead to just one, as Dan Rudisuela was able to sneak the puck in past Drew to earn his 14th of the year. That's as close as the Bombers would let it get as Ryan Smyth added an Empty-Netter with less than thirty seconds remaining to give him 15 goals on the season. The Bombers held the Royals scoreless on nine power play chances as Paul Drew went 23 of 26 to earn the win.

The Bombers will face-off against the Royals again tomorrow, with face-off set for 5:05 and is available on the B2 Network.

Action returns to the Nutter Center on March 13 and 14 when the Elmira Jackals come to town for a pair of 7:30 p.m. match ups.
