Nailers Go For Third Straight Win Over Trenton Tonight

WHEELING, W.Va. - The Wheeling Nailers look to get back on track tonight when they host the Trenton Devils at 8:05 p.m. at WesBanco Arena. The Nailers are coming off a tough 4-2 loss to the Dayton Bombers last night. Trenton's last game was also a loss, which came on Tuesday against the Nailers, 4-3.

Wheeling is currently in fifth place in the North Division while Trenton is fourth. The Nailers can move up in the division with wins over Trenton tonight and tomorrow.

The first 2,500 fans in attendance at tonight's game will receive a Coal Miner Spike bobble head. The Nailers close out their weekend home stand tomorrow with a rematch against Trenton. Faceoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.

Wheeling: 27-21-2-5, 61 points (5th place, North Division)

Trenton: 29-20-2-3, 63 points (4th place, North Division)

Last Time Out

Wheeling: The Nailers suffered a 4-2 setback Friday night to the Dayton Bombers. Nailer veteran forward Kelly Miller made it a 3-2 game when he scored on a nifty wrist shot midway through the third period, but the Nailers couldn't score the equalizer and Dayton added an empty-net goal.

Trenton: The Devils were defeated 4-3 by Wheeling on Tuesday. Erik Johnson and Andrew Lord each had a goal and one assist for the Nailers.

Nailers v. Devils, Head-to-Head in 2008-09

Wheeling is 5-2-0-1 against Trenton this season. The Nailers have won the last two games, beating the Devils 4-3 on Feb. 24 and 5-4 in a shootout on Feb. 22. Veteran forward Kelly Miller gave the Nailers the win on Feb. 22 when he scored in the sixth round of a shootout.

Wheeling: Bryan Ewing earned his 70th point of the season Friday night on an assist. Ewing has scored 35 goals and assisted on 35 goals in 51 games with the Nailers this season. Erik Johnson is the Nailers' second leading points-getter with 15 goals and 22 assists (37 points) in 48 games.

Trenton: Winger Eric Castonguay leads Trenton with 15 goals and 32 assists (47 points) in 39 games. Defenseman Ryan Gunderson is the team's second leading scorer with three goals and 41 assists (44 points) in 54 games.

Goalie Brown Returns

Wheeling goaltender David Brown officially came off of the I-R list on Friday. Brown has a 9-2 record with the Nailers this season. He has a 2.87 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. He also played in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL this season.
