Sea Dogs Walk off Second Consecutive Night

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs won in walk-off fashion for the second consecutive night, 1-0 over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (51-52, 11-23) on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs (51-53, 21-14) remain in first place in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League, 0.5 games ahead of the second-place Somerset Patriots.

In his Major League rehab appearance, Kiké Hernandez went 1-for-2 with a single in the fourth inning, the first hit of the game for the Sea Dogs. Tyler Danish tossed 1.0 inning in relief walking one batter and not allowing a run or a hit.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, Elih Marrero was the runner placed at second base. He advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by the pinch hitter Ricardo Cubillan. Tyler Dearden then clubbed a walk-off single to right centerfield and the Sea Dogs won, 1-0.

Thaddeus Ward tossed 5.0 shutout innings for the Sea Dogs allowing two hits while walking two and striking out four. Oddanier Mosqueda tossed 2.0 shutout innings in relief allowing one hit while walking one and striking out one. Jacob Wallace earned his third win of the season for the Sea Dogs pitching for the final two innings with two strikeouts.

Richmond's starter Matt Frisbee struck out 13 hitters in 6.0 innings allowing just one hit. Ryan Walker was tabbed with the loss allowing the winning run for Portland in the tenth.

The Sea Dogs and Richmond Flying Squirrels will face off again tomorrow, Thursday August 11th at 12:05pm. RHP Brian Van Belle (4-2, 4.10 ERA) will take the mound for Portland while Richmond will send LHP Kyle Harrison (3-2, 2.92 ERA).
