Sea Dogs Snap Senators Win Streak

The Portland Sea Dogs downed the Harrisburg Senators 14-5 on Saturday night at FNB Field. Adam Brett Walker became the first Senator this season to hit two triples in a game in the loss.

Danny Mars opened the scoring with a home run in the second. Portland scored another pair of runs in the third on three doubles.

The Sea Dogs broke the game open with a five run and 11-batter third. The first seven Sea Dogs reach base on four singles, a double and a pair of walks, with the rally capped by a two-run double by Tate Matheny which gave Portland an 8-0 lead.

The Senators scored their first run in the fifth. After a triple by Adam Brett Walker, Austin Davidson grounded into a run scoring fielder's choice.

Portland tacked on another pair of runs in the seventh on a run scoring single and an error.

The Senators scored another three runs in the bottom of the frame. With Drew Ward and Davidson on base on a hit-batter and a single, Osvaldo Abreu doubled in a run. The next batter, Khayyan Norfork, hit a ground ball to second base that Nick Lovullo threw past first baseman Josh Ockimey which allowed another two runs to score.

Portland finish their scoring with four more runs in the ninth, highlighted by a three-run home run by Jantzen Witte. The Senators scored their final run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Abreu as Portland took game two 14-5.

Sea Dogs starter Matthew Kent (3-3) picked up the win with six and a third innings of one-run ball. Senators starter Luis Reyes (4-6) took the loss after surrendering eight runs on nine hits in three innings.

Abreu finished with three hits and two RBI to lead the Senators, while Walker became the first Senators player this season to knock a pair of triples in a single game.

Adam Eaton went 0-3 and played five innings in his second rehab game with the Senators. Daniel Murphy went 0-4 and played the full nine innings in his third game on rehab with the Senators.

The Senators and Sea Dogs play the rubber match of the series Sunday afternoon. Logan Darnell starts the series finale for the Senators opposite Portland starter Teddy Stankiewicz.
