Harrisburg, Pa. - The Portland Sea Dogs (19-35) scored five times in the fourth inning and never looked back, defeating the Harrisburg Senators (27-26), 14-5 on Saturday night at FNB Field. Portland set a new season high with 14 runs and tied a season-high with 17 hits.
Matt Kent (3-3) snapped a two-game losing streak, working 6.1 innings on four hits, three runs, and six strikeouts to earn the win. Kent picked up his first Double-A quality start.
Nick Lovullo and Jantzen Witte had career nights for the 'Dogs. Lovullo picked up his first career 4-hit game and Witte knocked in five runs for the first time in his professional career.
Portland knocked Luis Reyes (L, 4-6) out of the game in the fourth inning, as he allowed eight runs on nine hits in 3+ innings to suffer the loss.
Danny Mars gave Portland a 1-0 lead with a two-out solo homer in the second. Mars hit his first homer and finished 2-for-5 with three runs scored. In the third inning, the 'Dogs added two runs on run-scoring doubles from Josh Ockimey (2-for-5) and Luke Tendler.
In the fourth, Jeremy Rivera continues his hot hitting with an RBI single. Witte added a two-run hit, and Tate Matheny delivered a two-run double.
Rivera and Witte added the finishing touches in the ninth inning. Rivera knocked in a run with a single and Witte clobbered a three-run homer.
Josh Smith closed out the game for Portland, allowing two runs (one earned) over 2.2 innings pitched.
The Sea Dogs and Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate) wrap up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon with a 3:30 first pitch from FNB Field. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz (4-5, 5.70) makes the start for Portland. Lefty Logan Darnell (3-2, 4.18) gets the ball for the Senators.
