
Sea Dogs Release 2004 Schedule

Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, class AA Eastern League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have announced their schedule for the 2004 season. Opening Day at Hadlock Field will be Thursday, April 15th at 6:00 PM against the Binghamton Mets. The Sea Dogs season opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 8th in Altoona, PA. The Sea Dogs will conclude the 2004 season at home on Labor Day, Monday, September 6th at 1:00 PM against Manchester. The Eastern League season consists of 142 games, 71 home and 71 away against eleven opponents. The 2004 season is the teams 11th year in Portland and second as a Boston Red Sox affiliate. Last season, the Sea Dogs Sold Out 36 games as 405,021 fans came out to Hadlock Field, an average of 6,231 fans per game, the highest in franchise history.
Individual Tickets for the 2004 season will go on sale at the Hadlock Field Box Office Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 AM. Phone & Internet orders will begin on Monday, October 27th at 9:00 AM. Standard game times this year will remain the same. April and May weekday games will begin at 6:00 PM, while weekend games will be at 1:00 PM. In June, July, and August weekday games will start at 7:00 PM, Saturday's at 6:00 PM, and Sunday's at 1:00 PM. In addition the Sea Dogs will play six 12:00 noon games on April 21st, May 26th, June 17th, July 12th, July 29th, and August 5tht.
The City of Manchester, NH will field an Eastern League team for the first time since 1971 when Manchester was home to the Yankees Double-A affiliate. The New Haven Ravens who entered the league with the Sea Dogs in 1994 were bought and relocated to Manchester. The team in Manchester is yet to be named but will be affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays. Manchester becomes the Sea Dogs closest Eastern League opponent. The Sea Dogs will face Manchester a total of 20 times consisting of 10 home and 10 road games. The first meeting comes in Manchester May 28-31st. While Manchester will visit Portland for the first time on June 4-6th. All other Eastern League teams and affiliates remain the same.
The 2004 schedule once again promises to be filled with many fun and exciting promotions. Although the promotional schedule is not yet determined, the Sea Dogs will once again have a series of firework shows, bobblehead doll giveaways, and bring back traveling acts like the Zooperstars and the Famous Chicken. The fan favorite "Field of Dreams" promotion will continue and will take place on Sunday, September 5th at 1:00 PM.
