The Sea Dogs magic number is 2 to clinch a playoff spot, and wrap up their six-game homestand, taking on the Richmond Flyings Squirrels on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

WRAPPING THINGS UP : The Sea Dogs conclude their six-game homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) at Hadlock Field...Portland's magic number is two to clinch a playoff spot - they need a win today and a loss by New Britain...Both the 'Dogs and Flying Squirrels have a 1/2 game lead in their respective divisions for first place...With last night's victory, Portland clinched their best winning season as a Red Sox affiliate (2005 team won 76 games).

THE FORCE WAS WITH HEIKER : SS Heiker Meneses nailed the Maine Monster with a bases-loaded, RBI single, giving the 'Dogs a 1-0 over the Flying Squirrels in 10 innings on Saturday night...C Carson Blair started the rally with a 4-pitch walk off losing pitcher Edwin Quirarte (9-7)...DH David Chester followed with a single, RF Jonathan Roof delivered a sac-bunt and 3B Ryan Dent was intentionally walked to load the bases...Both starters tossed eight scoreless innings - RHP Keith Couch gave up two hits, three walks and fanned seven...RHP Clayton Blackburn established a career-high with 11 strikeouts, yielding only three hits.
