NEWS AND NOTES

ALMOST HOME : The Sea Dogs conclude a six-game roadtrip on Wednesday night against the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) from Arm & Hammer Park...This series is two games due to Monday night's rainout and will be made up at a later date...Portland has dropped three straight after winning the first 2 games of the season in Reading...Trenton has won three in a row after a two-game losing streak to start the year...Tomorrow night is the Hadlock Field opener for the 'Dogs and their 21st in Portland, Maine.

THUNDER STRUCK : Trenton scored seven times off Mike McCarthy (0-1) in the first 3 innings, taking game one of the series, 10-1 on Tuesday night...The Thunder had six players with multi-hit games, and eight of nine starters picking up at least one hit...The top four in the lineup went a combined 10-for-19 (.526) with 5 RBI...LHP Matt Tracy worked 5.1 innings on five hits and one run to earn the win...Trenton's bullpen retired all 11 batters...C Blake Swihart went 2-for-4 and knocked in Portland's lone run...C Gary Sanchez went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI for the Thunder.
