
Gonzalez Strong Outing Backed By Offense Provides Win

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
Severino Gonzalez and the Fightin Phils offense combined to give Reading their fourth straight victory to improve to 4-2 on the season as they defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-1. Gonzalez earned his first win while Reading's offense recorded ten hits.
Reading came out the gates swinging as they took an early 3-0 lead off Fisher Cats starter Deck McGuire in the bottom of the first inning. Cameron Perkins sacrificed Carlos Alonso and Matt Tolbert over to second and third who also hit singles to begin the inning. Kelly Dugan hit a two-RBI single to give the Fightin Phils a 2-0 lead. The Fightins added another run off McGuire as Anthony Hewitt hit a RBI single to score Dugan and give Reading a 3-0 lead.
The Fightin Phils struck again in the bottom of the third as Carlos Alonso hit a RBI single to extend the Fightins lead to 4-0. New Hampshire scored their only run of the game off Gonzalez in the top of the sixth inning as Jon Berti hit a RBI single with two outs to score Michael Crouse.
Nefi Ogando pitched 2/3 of the eighth inning as he only issued one walk. Kenny Giles threw one pitch to Jon Berti in which he grounded out to end the inning. He struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to earn his third save.
The Fightin Phils head on the road beginning on Thursday evening as they play the Harrisburg Senators for four games. First pitch is scheduled from Metro Bank Park at 7:00 pm.
