RubberDucks Edge Curve, 5-4, to Split Series

(Altoona, PA) April 9, 2014 - Lefty Kyle Crockett picked up his first professional save with a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday night, as the Akron RubberDucks held off the Altoona Curve, 5-4, at People's Natural Gas Field.

Crockett, fanned three batters and worked around a single and walk to nail down the win for Gabriel Arias (1-0), who worked five innings in his Double-A debut. Duke von Schamann also made his organization debut, tossing three innings for Akron and recording six strikeouts.

The RubberDucks scored early and often, racing to a 4-0 lead against Curve starter Zack Dodson (0-1). Ronny Rodriguez, Tyler Holt, and Francisco Lindor all had RBI's for the RubberDucks, who split the two-game series with Altoona.

The RubberDucks (3-3) will welcome the Bowie Baysox to Canal Park for the start of a four-game series on Thursday evening at 6:35. It will be the home opener for the RubberDucks. RHP Tyler Wilson (1-0) will make the start for Bowie, while RHP Cody Anderson (1-0) will make the start for Akron.

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season the 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks. The home opener at Canal Park is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th at 6:35 p.m. against the Bowie Baysox.
