Sea Dogs Drop Game One of Doubleheader, Second Game Postponed

MANCHESTER, NH - The Portland Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats played a rain-shortened game on Saturday night while the second game of the doubleheader has been postponed due to inclement weather. Portland fell 3-0 in the six-inning game to the Fisher Cats. The second game of the doubleheader will be made up tomorrow, July 4 at 4pm.

Maximo Castillo earned the win for New Hampshire tossing 5.0 shutout innings allowing two hits while striking out six. He did not allow a walk. Andrew Politi was given the loss tossing 4.2 innings allowing three runs on two hits while walking a season-high six batters and striking out three.

In the bottom of the first inning, Austin Martin drew a one-out walk and moved to second on a single by Otto Lopez. Jordan Groshans then drove him home with a single to left field and the Fisher Cats led, 1-0.

New Hampshire plated two more in the bottom of the fifth inning. Samad Taylor and Groshans each drew walks and were on base. Chavez Young then lined a two-run double to left centerfield and the Fisher Cats extended their lead, 3-0.

RHP Kutter Crawford (1-2, 4.13 ERA) and RHP Frank German (2-4, 5.85 ERA) will take the mound for the Sea Dogs in the first game of the doubleheader. RHP Simeon Woods Richardson (2-1, 4.13 ERA) and RHP Reily Hovis (0-1, 11.57 ERA) will start for the Fisher Cats.
