Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN, December 7, 2006 - Game-worn jerseys from the inaugural 2005-06 team are to be auctioned off in support of the Sea Dogs Foundation.
Fans attending this Saturday night's game (Dec. 9) against the Quebec Remparts will be able to place their bids through a silent auction. Collectors will also be able to bid via the Sea Dogs website at www.saintjohnseadogs.com. Bidding will close at the end of the Dec. 16 Sea Dogs game versus the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Game-worn jerseys available for auction include those belonging to Charles Bergeron, Felix Schütz, Alex Grant and Ryan Sparling.
Proceeds from the jersey auction will go to the work of the Sea Dogs Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to provide financial and/or in-kind support to local Saint John area charities that focus on helping children and youth in the areas of education, sport, fitness and health. The foundation is also committed to helping former Sea Dogs players pursue their post-secondary education.
"This is an opportunity to own a piece history from the Sea Dogs inaugural season and support a great cause at the same time," said Foundation board member Andrew Campbell. "Each jersey will come with a certificate of authenticity."
