Fog Devils launch East Side Mario's Scholastic Player of the Month Award

St. John's Fog Devils News Release
The St. John's Fog Devils announced today the launch of the East Side Mario's Scholastic Player of the Month Award.
Each month, the hockey club will recognize the outstanding school achievements of one of its players through an on-ice ceremony. The player will receive the monthly recognition as well as a $50 gift certificate from East Side Mario's. The first presentation will take place on Tuesday, December 12th when the Fog Devils host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
The Fog Devils place a high standard of academics with its players and stress the importance of continuing education with everyone. Two (2) players have already been recognized for their individual academic achievements this season:
Patrick O'Keefe
Brad Gushue Scholarship
Fry Family Foundation Junior Leadership Award
Mary Queen of the World Ladies Auxiliary Father John B. Kent Scholarship
O'Keefe was recently presented with three (3) scholarships from O'Donel High School. Most notably he was awarded the Brad Gushue Scholarship from Memorial University presented to the individual who represents strong athletic ability, successful academic average, demonstrates leadership in sports and is committed to a philosophy of wellness through exemplary behavior and promotion.
Taylor MacDougal
Gonzaga Student of the Month for October
MacDougall was recognized as one of Gonzaga's Students of the Month was October. This Award goes to students who demonstrate high levels of Work Ethic, Academic Best or Improvement, Volunteerism, Creativity or an Outstanding Performance in an Extra Curricular Activity. The Fog Devils next home action is this weekend against the Halifax Mooseheads. Tickets for this series are available at the Mile One Stadium Box Office. The St. John's Fog Devils are a member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and are one of 59 member clubs of the Canadian Hockey League.
