St. John's Fog Devils News Release

St. John's (January 7, 2008) - The first annual Fog Devils Christmas Classic wrapped up on Sunday morning after four days of action that put 27 atom houseleague teams from across the province on the ice. By all accounts the tournament was a massive success.

"It was a great tournament, really well organized and what not," said Connie Street, whose son Ethan partook in the festivities. "It was the first time we got to travel to a tournament this year and the team really loved it."

Steve Crickard, who represented the Fog Devils on the tournament committee, was also pleased with the way things turned out:

"People don't realize all the hours, the volunteer hours, that go into something like this. They think it's just tell people where to be and then let them hop on the ice. It's not like that, but because we had so many great people and so much support it turned out to be a great event."

At the end of the tournament, there were three teams who walked away with medals. One of two Bonavista squads earned bronze, the St. John's IceBreakers took home silver, and the other Bonavista team was crowned inaugural Christmas Classic champions.

By all accounts the first annual Fog Devils Christmas Classic was an overwhelming success. The event helped to solidify the Fog Devils and their commitment to great community initiatives, while also allowing children across the province access to a unique tournament experience that included visits from players, access to Mile One facilities, and the opportunity to play against teams they rarely see.

The entire Fog Devils organization would like to thank everyone involved, from the volunteers who made the event possible, to the sponsors who backed it, to all the players and coaches who participated.
