Sea Dogs Acquire Christian Morin From Foreurs

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that the team has acquired 19-year old defenseman Christian Morin from the Val-d'Or Foreurs in exchange for veteran rearguard Benjamin Lecomte.

A native of Dartmouth, NS, Morin has appeared in 119 games with the Foreurs since being selected by Val-d'Or in the Fourth Round (64th overall) of the 2006 QMJHL Entry Draft. The 6'0", 191 lb. blue-liner has recorded 27 career points (11G-16A) in addition to 164PIM.

Lecomte, 19, was originally acquired by Saint John from Rouyn-Noranda on December 22, 2008 in a trade that sent a sixth round entry draft pick to the Huskies. The 5'11", 195 lb. defenseman registered 5G-12A-17P in 53 games played during his tenure in south western New Brunswick.

Currently ranked first in the QMJHL with a record of 31-6-1-0, the Sea Dogs kick off their second-half schedule on Sunday, December 27 on the road versus the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (puck drop: 4pm). Saint John's next home game is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm versus the P.E.I. Rocket.
