Scrappers Rally Past Jammers For 4-2 Win
August 27, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Niles, Ohio - Tony Wolters and Jake Lowery had run-scoring hits as part of a four-run
sixth inning to help the Scrappers erase an early deficit and defeat the Jamestown Jammers, 4-2.
Jamestown took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-out single by Brian McConkey.
The runs were unearned after Lowery's passed ball allowed a runner to reach base on a strikeout
to start the inning.
The score remained 2-0 until the sixth, when Wolters singled in Aaron Siliga to make it
2-1. The ball got past McConkey in right field, allowing Bryson Myles to score from first base to
tie the game. Lowery singled in Wolters, who had advanced to third, to give the Scrappers the
lead. Jordan Smith doubled Lowery to third and Alex Lavisky followed with a run-scoring
ground out.
Jack Wagoner picked up his first professional win with two innings of perfect relief. He
improved to 1-0. The loss went to Jammers starter Jose Urena. He fell to 4-7. Enosil Tejeda put
the tying runs on base in the ninth inning, but got a fielder's choice ground out and a strikeout to
end the game. He earned his 11th save of the season.
The Scrappers and Jammers will conclude their three-game series on Sunday night at
5:05 pm.
