NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers reign atop the Stedler division lasted all of about 20 hours before the Vermont Lake Monsters jumped back on top of the division with a 3-1 victory over the Tigers in thirteen innings on Saturday afternoon at Dodd Stadium.

The win by Vermont put the Lake Monsters a half game up on Connecticut.

The Tigers look the lead in the fourth on three base hits. Dean Green started the rally with a single, Aaron Westlake followed with a base hit and Jeff Holm drove in Green from second on an RBI single.

However, Connecticut was able to only muster three base runners over the next nine innings to end the game.

Connecticut took the 1-0 lead into the sixth when the Lake Monsters tied the game. Aaron Shipman led off with a slow roller to the shortstop Eugenio Suarez, whose throw to first was over the head of Westlake, went into the stands and allowed Shipman to go to second base. Sean Jamieson put down a sac bunt moving Shipman to third and Vermont tied it up on an RBI single from Michael Fabiaschi.

In the thirteenth inning, with Nick Avila on the hill for the Tigers, Jacob Tanis led off the frame being hit by a pitch. Chad Oberacker then came in to pinch run for Tanis and he moved up to second when Shipman drew a walk. A Jamieson sac bunt moved the runners up to second and third and a suicide squeeze bunt by Fabiaschi scored Oberacker to put Vermont on top. They added a run on a Bobby Crocker RBI single to go up 3-1, which would go on to be the final.

Connecticut spoiled another great start, this time from Luis Angel Sanz, who went seven innings and gave up one unearned run on just three hits.

The Tigers will head to Vermont to play three games over the next two days. The teams will finish a game that was suspended in the fifth inning on June 25 with the Tigers leading 2-0. They will then play a seven-inning contest as part of a doubleheader, which will begin at 6:05 PM. The teams will then play for the final time of the season on Monday night.
