Scrappers fall to Jammers, 6-4

Niles, OH - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers lost game two of a three-game series to the Jamestown Jammers tonight 6-4 at Eastwood Field. With the loss, the Scrappers fell to 30-45 on the season, while the Jammers improved to 42-32 in 2010. Jamestown scored four times in the bottom of the fourth inning off Ryan Gardner that proved to be the difference. Gardner allowed another run in the top of the fifth inning and took the loss for the Scrappers lasting just one inning and giving up five runs. Zachary Neal got the win for the Jammers pitching five innings and allowing three unearned runs. Jared Rogers made his Jammers' debut and earned the save. The Jammers scored a run in the top of the third inning, but the Scrappers answered in the bottom of the frame. With one out, Aaron Fields drew a walk and then stole a base with Brian Heere at the plate. Heere later reached on a Brent Keys error moving Fields to third base. Kevin Fontanez followed reaching on an error that allowed Fields to score to tie the game. Giovanny Urshela singled home Heere and Jesus Aguilar doubled in Fontanez to give the Scrappers a 3-1 lead. The Jammers answered right back in the top of the fourth inning off Gardner scoring four times and adding an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning to retake the lead 6-3. The Scrapper added a run on a Jesus Aguilar RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Rogers shut the door to earn the save and give the Jammers the win. The Scrappers will look salvage the final game of this three-game series tomorrow night. The final game of the Scrappers season will be followed by Baseball Brawl.
