Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Tonight at Dutchess Stadium, the Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Lowell Spinners, 6-2. On the eve of their season finale, the ‘Gades (38-36) clinched a winning record for a franchise-record third consecutive season.

Trailing 1-0 after the top of the first, Hudson Valley tied the score on Steve Tinoco's run-scoring double in the bottom of the inning. Tinoco became the eighth Renegades player with 10 doubles this season, tying a franchise record set in 2001.

Lowell scored once in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead, which the Spinners held until the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, the host Renegades sent ten men to the plate, scoring five runs on six hits and capping the scoring for the game. The inning was highlighted by Mayo Acosta's run-scoring single, Dio Luis' 3-run double, and Brian Bryles' run-scoring single. Bryles had a team-high 3 hits tonight, his third 3-hit game of the season and his tenth multi-hit game of the year.

Hudson Valley shortstop Dio Luis stole his tenth base of the year tonight, giving the 2010 Renegades a franchise record-tying six players with double digit steals (originally accomplished in 1995) in a single season.

In his final appearance of the season, Renegades reliever Robert Dickmann (W, 4-2) earned his team-high fourth win with three perfect innings (2 strikeouts) in relief of starter Miguel Sierra (4.0 IP, 2R/2ER, SO, 0BB). JR Robinson pitched the eighth and ninth innings for Hudson, ending the year with five consecutive scoreless outings (6.1 IP, 4H, 10SO, 2BB in that span) and a 1.38 in 10 games overall.

The Hudson Valley Renegades will play their final game of 2010 tomorrow night at Dutchess Stadium as they try to even the season series with Lowell at three games.
