
Scrappers Clinch Home Field During the Playoffs with 3-0 Victory over State College

Niles, OH- On Saturday night, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers defeated the State College Spikes 3-0. With the win, the Scrappers have set the all-time single season franchise record for wins with forty-nine (49-26).
Scrappers starter Brett Brach went the first six innings and allowed no runs, on three base hits and five strikeouts. Tyler Sturdevant pitched the final three innings and gave up no hits and striking out three.
Mahoning Valley scored first in the 1st when Jesus Brito delivered an RBI single to right field. The Spikes held the Scrappers scoreless for the next six innings, until Mahoning Valley scored a run in the 7th inning on a wild pitch, then adding their third run on a Argenis Martinez bunt single to third. Scrappers pitching continued to keep the Spikes off the scoreboard for the final two innings, as Mahoning Valley went on to the 3-0 victory.
Sunday, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers wrap up the regular season with the State College Spikes. Sunday's game starts at 5:05 PM and can be heard on 1390 WNIO and online at mvscrappers.com.
