Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Northwest Arkansas designated-hitter Frank Schwindel hit two home runs to power the Naturals (25-26) past the San Antonio Missions (16-35) by the score of 7-5 on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark. The victory gives the Naturals four consecutive wins and clinches the series victory over the Missions before tomorrow's finale.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the fourth, Frank Schwindel came to the plate to lead off the inning and launched the first pitch he saw from RHP Bryce Morrow into the Bud Light Home Run Porch in left for a solo home run and a 3-2 advantage. Still clinging to that 3-2 lead in the sixth, the designated-hitter came through in the same scenario as he drove a 2-0 pitch into the visitor's bullpen in left field for his second solo home run of the game. On the day, he went 2-for-4 with his eighth and ninth home runs of the season to vault him into a tie for the sixth best total in the Texas League.

The Naturals offense pounded out 13 hits on the night as Corey Toups, Ryan O'Hearn, and Carlos Diaz all joined Schwindel with multi-hit games. O'Hearn provided a big two-run double in the first while Diaz went 3-for-4 in his Northwest Arkansas debut. San Antonio's offense also had a solid day at the plate as the Missions collected 10 hits on the night while every single batter in their lineup collected at least one hit and was led by Nick Torres' 2-for-4 night.

Northwest Arkansas received another solid start from LHP Eric Skoglund (3-2, 4.02 ERA). The lefty collected the win, his second win in a row at home, while Morrow (1-7, 6.34 ERA) took another loss for San Antonio. The Missions did mount a late rally in the ninth inning as they scored three runs but RHP Yender Caramo (S, 2) shut the door for the save.

Northwest Arkansas will continue their current six (6) game homestand tomorrow - Thursday, June 2 - with the series finale against the San Antonio Missions (Double-A San Diego Padres) with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. RHP Alec Mills (1-2, 2.33 ERA) gets the ball for the Naturals while RHP T.J. Weir will make his first San Antonio appearance. Catch the live play-by-play action with the Voice of the Naturals Benjamin Kelly on your home for Naturals baseball on KQSM 92.1-FM The Ticket at 3:45 p.m. for the Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show leading up to first pitch from Arvest Ballpark.
