Tri-City Storm News Release

KEARNEY, Neb. - Jaden Schwartz broke a record held by Bill Thomas, but the Tri-City Storm (14-12-6, 34 pts) lost to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (17-14-2, 36 pts) on Sunday night 4-1. Schwartz scored the lone goal for the Storm to extend his point streak to 13 games, which broke Thomas' record of 12 games.

The RoughRiders scored the opening goal 8:04 into the first period, as Jeff Costello scored his first of two goals on the power play.

Zach Lehrke scored for Cedar Rapids to grab a 2-0 lead 1:56 into the second period.

In the third period, Schwartz would score the only goal for the Storm 31-seconds into the period, as Maxwell Tardy passed the puck from behind the net to Schwartz who snapped the puck past Cedar Rapids goalie Cody Campbell.

However, Eric Robinson and Costello would each score on the power play in the third period to lift the RoughRiders past the Storm 4-1.

Carsen Chubak (9-9-6) made 18 saves on 22 shots receiving the loss for the Storm. RoughRiders' Campbell (1-1-0) made 28 saves on 29 shots in the win.

Tri-City on the power play was 0-8, while Cedar Rapids was 3-7 with the man-advantage.

The Storm will be back at home Friday night against the Waterloo Black Hawks (7:05pm).

Notes: Schwartz's point streak is the longest current streak in the USHL; however Omaha's Matt White had a 17-game point streak earlier this season... It was just the third regulation loss for the Storm at the Viaero Event Center... The Storm is 6-4-3 against the East Division this season
