
Schmidt, Canada Red Fall to Sweden at World U17s

Connor Schmidt and Canada Red dropped to 2-2 at the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
A tough first period cost Canada Red on Monday in an 8-5 loss to Sweden in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Sweden scored five times in the first period to take a 5-1 lead on Canada Red and led 8-3 after two.
Canada Red battled back in the third, outshooting Sweden 17-7 in the frame and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough.
Canada Red went 0-for-7 on the power play in the loss.
Schmidt and Canada Red will close out the round robin on Tuesday when they take on the United States at 5 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
The playoff round starts on Thursday.
