Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs are proud to partner with and support the local Inland Northwest Community through numerous initiatives across the next several weeks.
Player Appearance at Teen and Kid Closet
A group of Spokane Chiefs players will visit Teen & Kid Closet on Wednesday, November 8th from 4-5 PM in tandem with the Sturm Heating Clothing Drive at the Spokane Chiefs game on November 19 versus Kamloops. Teen & Kid Closet is a charity organization that provides youth and families in poverty an opportunity to 'shop' for free at their Spokane location to find quality new or gently used clothing items. Fans who donate items to the Spokane Chiefs ticket office between now and November 19, or at the game on the 19th, will receive a discounted ticket to the game or a coupon to the Spokane Chiefs team store. Media are invited to visit Teen & Kid Closet on Wednesday, November 8th for the Chiefs' player appearance from 4-5pm.
Veteran's Day at the Spokane Chiefs
The Spokane Chiefs host Kamloops on Saturday, November 11th on Veteran's Day. There will be several veterans' groups in attendance at the game as well as the parade float from the Chiefs' partners at the Washington Fallen Heroes Project, honoring post 9/11 heroes from the Inland Northwest who have lost their lives.
Try Hockey For Free
Before the game on Saturday, the Spokane Junior Chiefs are hosting another 'Try Hockey For Free' event at the Spokane Arena. Spokane Chiefs players, Jr. Chiefs coaches, the Spokane Jr. Chiefs, and Lilac City Figure Skating instructors will be out to help new skaters (ages 4 and up) learn skating techniques and participate in passing and shooting drills before experiencing what it's like to play in a game! Participants will leave with great memories and two tickets to Saturday night's Spokane Chiefs game.
Native American Heritage Night
The Spokane Chiefs and Coeur d'Alene Casino together are honoring Native American culture on Saturday, November 18th for Native American Heritage Night. Three Spokane Chiefs players have Canadian First Nations' backgrounds and will speak to their culture and experience during the game's proceedings. There will also be a land acknowledgement, tribal song and dance, and other regalia involved.
Sturm Heating Clothing Drive
Sunday, November 19 is the Sturm Heating clothing drive as mentioned above.
Teddy Bear Toss supporting Spokesman-Review Christmas Bureau
Saturday, December 2nd is the ever-popular Teddy Bear Toss Game. Once again, fans will be encouraged to bring new teddy bears to the game and throw them on the ice when the Chiefs score their first goal of the game. Local high school volunteers along with Chiefs and Spokane Arena team members will assist with collecting and counting the bears. They will then be delivered to the Spokesman-Review Christmas Bureau as well as Toys for Tots.
2nd Annual Neurodiversity Awareness Night
Sunday, December 3rd is the second annual Spokane Chiefs Neurodiversity Awareness Night. The Chiefs are partnering with local organizations such as the ARC of Spokane and the Isaac Foundation to create a game atmosphere that is more accessible for anyone with neurodivergent needs. There will be a designated quiet room at the game, extra sensory kits available for fans (these are now offered at every Chief's game), reduced volume of music and noise prompts, reduced use of light strobing, and more.
