October 2, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Brad Schell for the 2009-10 season. Schell returns to Gwinnett after collecting nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points in 27 games with the Gladiators last season. He also appeared in one game with San Antonio of the AHL. Schell was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the sixth round with the 167th overall pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Schell, who has skated with the Gladiators in each of the last five seasons, has appeared in 250 regular season games in Gwinnett and has spent three brief stints on AHL rosters since the 2005-06 season. After notching 53 points during the 2004-05 season and 79 in 2005-06, the 6'0" 190-pound forward exploded for a team record and league-high 110 points in the 2006-07 season including a whopping 85 assists. His efforts garnered him All-Star honors and that season's ECHL regular season MVP title.

A Scott, Saskatchewan native, Schell skated five seasons for the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL, where he compiled 182 points in 239 games, before making his professional debut with the Gladiators in the 2004-05 season. He finished first on the team in both goals (35) and assists (57) in the 2003-04 season.

Prior to signing with the Gladiators, Schell attended training camp with the AHL's Rockford Ice Hogs. He joins the Gladiators as an ECHL veteran.

The Gladiators open their 7th season in the ECHL on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th against the Wheeling Nailers. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
