Published on April 11, 2015 under United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
Chicago, IL - The participants for the 2015 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs had previously been established but now the seeding and matchups are set for the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Sioux City Musketeers earned a comeback victory on Friday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede to secure the top overall seed in the Western Conference. The two teams will now face each other in a best-of-five series to open the postseason as the Stampede will have the fourth seed. The Musketeers equaled a team record in the USHL Tier 1 era (2002-present) with 38 victories this season, which also secured them a second consecutive playoff berth. The Stampede clinched a playoff berth for the third straight season as they have totaled 32 wins with one game remaining in the regular season.
The other Western Conference Semifinal series has the second-seeded Tri-City Storm in a matchup with the third-seeded Omaha Lancers in a best-of-five series. The Storm earn a playoff berth for the first time since 2012 as they have earned 36 wins, the most since the 2006-07 season, with one game remaining in the regular season. The Lancers have totaled 34 wins with one game remaining and have earned their second consecutive playoff berth. Despite trailing the Storm by just two points with a game remaining, Tri-City holds the tiebreaker over the Lancers for playoff seeding.
Per League rules, both higher seeds have elected the option to start their best-of-five series on the road with both series beginning on Tuesday, April 14th.
