HOUSTON, TX (Wednesday July 14, 2010) - Houston Mayor Annise Parker and the Houston Dynamo announced today the schedule of events leading up to the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, to be held at Reliant Stadium on July 28.

"The All-Star Game itself is of course the centerpiece of the week, but it's really a celebration of American soccer," Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti said. "Houston has embraced big events in the past, and we're looking forward to turning the city orange once again in the days leading up to this great event."

"Thank you, Dynamo, for being such great partners in this," Parker said. "Houston knows how to put on big sporting events. We are a soccer city, and we are the future of Major League Soccer, and we hope this is the beginning of a regular circuit of international teams."

The week kicks off on Saturday, July 24, with the Dynamo Charities Go for Goal 5K Run and the Dynamo Diesel Kids Fun Run. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., races begin at 8 a.m., and the race will begin and end at Houston City Hall. Registration is available at HoustonDynamo.com/Goforgoal.

On Sunday, July 25, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., the Dynamo will host a soccer film festival at the Angelika Film Center in downtown Houston featuring soccer movies, with proceeds going to charity. A finalized list of films will be announced in the coming days, and ticket information will be available at HoustonDynamo.com.

On Monday, July 26, the Dynamo will host a private party for season ticket holders, sponsors, and invited guests at Venue, located at 719 Main St. MLS All-Star players are expected to attend, and Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell and professional athletes from other local teams are expected to take the stage for some stand-up comedy as part of the entertainment.

On Tuesday, July 27, MLS W.O.R.K.S. will hold The Home Depot Community Build to provide a playground at Golden Acres Elementary School in Pasadena. Work will run from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

In the evening from 4-8 p.m., Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston will host the MLS All-Star Jam, which includes inflatable games, music, and activities for kids and families. The event is free to all fans and will also include a special 7 v. 7 soccer match featuring soccer legends and various celebrities.

The day will be capped off by the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star Celebration, to be held at Hotel ZaZa from 8 p.m.-midnight. Players from the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United and league partners and executives will be on hand at the exclusive party.

On gameday, July 28, the 2010 AT&T MLS All-Star Soccer Celebration will be held at Reliant Stadium near the Budweiser Plaza, featuring interactive events for kids, soccer-themed games, sponsor giveaways, and more.

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Reliant Stadium and feature 18-time English and three-time European champion Manchester United against the Major League Soccer All-Stars.

After the match, Dynamo forward Brian Ching will host an All-Star Party at the House of Blues, with tickets available to the public. Tickets are either general admission or VIP, which includes a chance to meet players from both teams and the Dynamo, who will be invited to attend. Proceeds benefit Ching's charity, The House that Ching Built, which partners with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for an underprivileged Houston family.
