Sporting Kansas City News Release

The Kansas City Wizards begin a busy week tonight, as the team faces the Columbus Crew at 6:30 p.m. CT on KCWE 29. Kansas City will be looking to avenge a 1-0 loss to Columbus suffered May 23 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and snap a six-game, regular-season winless streak against the Crew. The Wizards last topped Columbus September 15, 2007. Tonight's game broadcast will not feature a 30-minute pre-game show on KCWE 29, but will feature a post-game show.

Kansas City will play its first two-game week of the 2010 MLS season, with Wednesday's match at Columbus followed by a Saturday game at the Colorado Rapids. Earlier in the season, Kansas City played a U.S. Open Cup game at midweek between a pair of MLS matches, but the Wizards have yet to play an MLS game at midweek surrounded by League games.

Two Wizards players are making return trips to Columbus for tonight's match. Defender Roger Espinoza played college soccer in the city for Ohio State University. Striker Kei Kamara began his career with the Crew, scoring five goals in 36 games from 2006-2007.

After Kansas City's first two-game week of the 2010 MLS season, the Wizards will return home to take on English powerhouse Manchester United Sunday, July 25 at 5 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium. A limited number of lower-level seats are still available for the friendly versus Manchester United. Fans are encouraged to act quickly to reserve their seats before all lower-level tickets are sold out. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or at any Ticketmaster outlet. Special packages are also available through the Kansas City Wizards and can be purchased by calling 1-888-4KC-GOAL.
