Scavuzzo Sparks Drillers Past Travs

July 17, 2018 - Texas League (TL1)
Arkansas Travelers News Release

Tulsa, OK-For the second consecutive night, the Tulsa Drillers handed the Arkansas Travelers a lopsided defeat, this time by an 11-3 score. Jacob Scavuzzo blasted two homers for the second straight game and drove in five to lead the Driller attack. Luke Raley and D.J. Peters also homered for the Drillers who lead the league with 137 homers. Peters is the individual leader with 19. One of the Travs runs scored on a solo homer from Dario Pizzano, who went deep for a second straight night and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Tony Gonsolin fired six innings with eight strikeouts in his Double-A debut to earn the win while Nathan Bannister took the loss.

Moments That Mattered

* Arkansas closed within two runs in the fourth when they loaded the bases with no one out and scored when Logan Taylor's line out to right field brought a run in for a sacrifice fly. A strikeout and a groundout prevented the Travs from adding any more.

* Peter's jumpstarted a six-run sixth inning for Tulsa with a leadoff solo homer.

Notable Travs Performances
