Florida Everblades News Release
Estero, FL - Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Steve Saviano has been assigned to the roster from Lowell of the American Hockey League, and forwards Chris Hodgson and Cody Doucette have been waived. In addition, defenseman Ryan Brindley has been placed on the 30-day injured reserve list.
Saviano rejoins the Everblades after skating in six games with Lowell this season. The 5-8 native of Reading, Massachusetts previously skated for the Everblades in one game on 11/4 at San Diego. In his six games with the Lock Monsters, Saviano picked up one assist.
On Tuesday, the 'Blades also released rookie forwards Doucette and Hodgson. Hodgson, who joined the Everblades this season after spending the previous three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, saw action in five games with Florida, scoring two goals and collecting two penalty minutes. Doucette, also a rookie fresh out of the QMJHL, began the 2004-05 season on the 30-day IR with a wrist injury. The native of Tignish, P.E.I. dressed for two games with the 'Blades picking up no points and amassing four PIM.
The third roster move today saw Brindley added to the 30-day IR with a broken foot. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native suffered the injury on 11/12 at Idaho when blocking a shot. The 28-year-old has seen action in 10 games this year picking up four points (1g, 3a) and 17 PIM. The seven-year pro joined the Everblades late last season, playing in seven regular season games, and all 17 'Blades playoff games, during which he scored 11 points (3g, 8a). Brindley joins Keith Anderson, Reggie Berg and Jared Newman on the IR.
