Despite outshooting Vegas 53-24 in regulation, the Gators were heading to overtime. In OT it took 1:44 for the Wranglers to complete the comeback, as former Hartford Whaler Jason McBain scored from 30 feet out on the right side to give Las Vegas the victory. For the night, the Gators outshot the Wranglers 55-27. Las Vegas was 2-5 on the power play, the Gators were 1-7.

At 7:15 of the period Wes Mason took a centering pass from Mike Omicioli and rocketed a top shelf wrist shot from 40 feet over the shoulder of Centomo for his 7th goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.
It took 1:45 for the Wranglers to tie the score in the 2nd period. Chris Stanley taking advantage of a broken stick and a 5 on 3 man advantage, was able to pick up a rebound and slide it past a sprawling Nathan Marsters to tie the game at 1 on his 3rd goal of the season. Louisiana took the lead back at 10:43, as Mason sent a knuckleball toward the left from the left wing boards. Chris Thompson, going to the net, redirected the puck through the legs of Centomo for his 2nd of the season and a 2-1 Gator lead through 40 minutes of play.
