Rivermen Goaltender Michaud Reassigned to Worcester

Peoria, Ill. (November 23, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that sixth-year goaltender Alfie Michaud has been reassigned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate – the Worcester IceCats.

Michaud – a 5-foot-10, 177-pound native of Selkirk, Manitoba – posted a 2-3-1 record with a 2.97 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage over six starts with the Rivermen to open this season. The 28-year-old netminder spent last season in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the German Elite League, with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, posting a 11-7-2 record with a 2.38 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Two seasons ago with the Rivermen, he registered a 20-4-4 mark with a 2.10 GAA and a .927 save percentage, earning 2003 ECHL Goaltender of the Year honors and ECHL First Team Postseason All-Star honors. As a rookie in 1999-2000, he played two games for the NHL's Vancouver Canucks.

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL – The Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Rivermen host the Reading Royals on Thursday, November 25 (Thanksgiving) and Friday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Thanksgiving, as part of the Rivermen "Stuff A Bus" promotion, fans are encouraged to bring two canned goods to the Carver Arena Box Office to donate to the Peoria Friendship House, and they will receive a Half Price Upper Bowl ticket. On Friday, November 26, it is a Finally Friday, presented by 99X and Insight Media. Fans are encouraged to bring a Sprite/Barq's Root Beer/Pibb Xtra can to the Carver Arena Box Office to receive a "Buy One, Get One Upper Bowl Ticket Free" offer. They are also encouraged to bring new or gently-used coats to be donated as part of the Salvation Army "Coats for Kids" Drive.
