
Santa Cruz Warriors Lose Heartbreaker against D-Fenders

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to West Division rival Los Angeles 111-104 Friday night at the Kaiser Permanente Arena, dropping to two games behind the Bakersfield Jam for the top seed in the playoffs.
The Warriors were led by Travis Leslie, who scored a game-high 28 points and had six rebounds. Cameron Jones added 18 points, while Hilton Armstrong had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Stefhon Hannah dished out a game-high 11 assists, which tied his season high.
Los Angeles was paced by Morris Almond's 26 points and Courtney Fortson's 21 points. Gary Flowers logged a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Jerome Jordan had 19 points and 10 boards.
There were seven lead changes in the first half, which ended with Los Angeles ahead 58-51. The D-Fenders increased their lead to 16 in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors went on a 19-2 run to take the lead on a Stefhon Hannah three with 2:41 left in the game. Los Angeles responded and regained the lead, but Travis Leslie put the Warriors ahead 104-103 with 30 seconds left. The D-Fenders went on an 8-0 run to close out the game and get the win.
Santa Cruz shot 47.1% from the field, while Los Angeles shot 51.2%. Santa Cruz won the rebound battle (48-42) and handed out more assists (32-30), but the Warriors had more turnovers (27-20) and Los Angeles notched more steals (12-10). Both teams scored 54 points in the paint.
The Warriors hit the road for a three-game road trip starting tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at Los Angeles. Fans can watch the game live on CBS Sports Network or listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM.
