 Cleveland Charge News Release
For the second time in as many seasons of existence, the Canton Charge has secured an NBA Development League playoff appearance! Owned and operated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Charge are ready to make another post season run for a shot at the NBA D-League Championship title with the support of their fantastic fan base and the city of Canton.
With their 113-94 victory over the Texas Legends on Saturday night, Canton clinched a playoff berth for the second year in a row and their first-ever East Division Championship! During their inaugural campaign in 2011-12, the Charge defeated the Springfield Armor 2-1 in the opening round best-of-three series before falling one win short of the NBA D-League Finals in the semifinal round.
Canton is guaranteed to host at least one game ("Game A") in the first round of the playoffs at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on a date to be announced, against a yet-to-be determined opponent. The announcement of playoff seeding, game dates and matchups will be made by the NBA D-League office on Sunday, April 7 after league-wide regular season games are complete Saturday night.
The selection process will see the top four seeds select in order who they will play out of a pool that includes the bottom four seeds. All playoff series are best-of-three, with the lower seed hosting the first game and the higher seed hosting the second and then third game if necessary.
Be a part of Charge history! Playoff tickets start at just $8 and go on sale April 1 at 10:00 a.m., and can be purchased at CantonCharge.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 866-444-1944. For a Canton Memorial Civic Center seating chart, visit CantonCharge.com.
The Canton Charge are exclusively operated by the Cleveland Cavaliers and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League and the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League, both playing at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
