Santa Cruz Warriors Defeated by Canton Charge

RENO, Nev. - The Santa Cruz Warriors ended the NBA D-League Showcase with a loss Thursday, dropping their second game in Reno to the Canton Charge 104-93.

Santa Cruz was again led by Taylor Griffin, who scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Four other Santa Cruz Warriors scored in double figures, including Stefhon Hannah with 20 and Chris Johnson with 17. Mickell Gladness blocked a game-high 5 shots.

The Canton Charge was led by Kyle Gibson, who scored 23 points. Michael Eric recorded the only double-double of the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Dominique Johnson was one rebound shy of a double-double.

The Santa Cruz Warriors led by as much as 11, taking their lead into the fourth quarter. However, the Charge outscored the Warriors 35-18 in the fourth to seal their 11 point victory. The Charge out-rebounded the Warriors (46-32), but the Warriors completed the game with a slight edge on field goal shooting percentage (45.7%-45.3%).

The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser Permanente Arena for the first of a two-game series against the Tulsa 66ers.
