Fort Wayne Holds off Tulsa at 2013 NBA D-League Showcase

January 10, 2013 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

RENO, NEV., Jan. 10, 2013 - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants used a well-balanced scoring attack to defeat the Tulsa 66ers, 121-115. The Mad Ants had seven players register in double-figures, headlined by Anthony Richardson who led Fort Wayne with 28 points including 22 of which that were scored in the second-half.

Luke Harangody notched his second double-double of the 2013 NBA D-League Showcase, scoring 18 points and collecting 10 rebounds.

Fort Wayne was sparked by a 25-4 run that put them ahead 58-55 at halftime, followed by a 20-4 run out of the gate in the third quarter. Tulsa would respond to the Fort Wayne runs with bursts of their own, including of 20-7 run before the half.

With 4:10 remaining, the 66ers found themselves trailing again, this time by 14. Oklahoma City Thunder assignee, Jeremy Lamb led a final charge scoring 8 points in the final 1:20 but it wasn't enough. Lamb paced Tulsa with a game-high 33 points on 11-for-19 shooting. In two games here in Reno during the showcase he tallied 51 points on 18-of-35 shooting, to go along with 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

The easiest way to make it to the NBA from the D-League is to perfect a certain skill. If a team is in need of that skill and believes you can fill a role, you will certainly receive consideration for a GATORADE Call-up.

Andy Rautins' best skill is his ability to knock down the three-ball. He showcased this talent on Wednesday night, winning the 3-Point Shootout and then again on Thursday when he knocked down seven 3-pointers, which tied a record for most three-pointers in a single game this season.

Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs and Steve Novak of the New York Knicks are among the plus 115 players in the NBA with D-League experience. Similar to Rautins, Green and Novak possess the ability to knock down the three-pointer. Both players went from the NBA D-League to filling important roles on title contending teams.

Fort Wayne (9-10) will head to Erie and take on the BayHawks on Saturday and Tulsa (9-8) will take a short trip to Santa Cruz and take on the Warriors tomorrow night.
