Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (30-13) defeated the Wisconsin Herd (10-32) tonight at Oshkosh's Menominee Nation Arena, 107-92. Santa Cruz dished a season-high-tying 33 assists as six Sea Dubs scored in double figures tonight.
Warriors guard Antonius Cleveland secured a team-high 16 points to go with seven assists and two steals on the evening. Center Deyonta Davis added 14 points on 7-of-11 from the field (63.6 percent shooting) with seven rebounds, and forward Juan Toscano-Anderson logged his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.
All five Herd starters scored in double figures tonight, including Milwaukee Bucks assignment player Christian Wood's game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds in 36 minutes. Guard Xavier Munford added 21 points and seven assists and reserve center Shevon Thompson had 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting with nine rebounds off the bench tonight.
Tied at 7-7 in the opening minutes, Santa Cruz went on a 10-0 run over a two-minute span to force a time-out from Herd coach Jordan Brady. Guard Darius Morris had seven assists in the first quarter alone - and a game-high 13 for the night - as Santa Cruz held a 31-18 lead after the first quarter and never again lost the lead.
The Warriors led by as many as 29 in the third quarter, thanks to shooting 5-of-8 from three-point land (62.5 percent 3FG) and assisting on 10 of the team's 11 made shots in the period. Santa Cruz held a 57-47 rebounding advantage tonight, including 14-6 on the offensive boards, to slow down one of the fastest teams in the league and secure the 15-point win.
The Warriors, who clinched a spot in the 2019 NBA G League Playoffs last night, will conclude their three-game road trip on Friday, March 8 against the Memphis Hustle (5:00 p.m. PT, Facebook Live). Santa Cruz will return to Kaiser Permanente Arena on Wednesday, March 13 against the Greensboro Swarm (7:00 p.m. tip-off, NBC Sports Bay Area Plus), with the first 1,500 in attendance receiving a Baron Davis bobblehead.
