
Sano Blasts Tenth Homer, But Snappers Fall 4-3

Beloit, WI- The Beloit Snappers had a chance to tie it up in a rainy bottom of the seventh inning, but were unable to pick up one more run. The Kane County Cougars beat the Beloit Snappers Tuesday night at Pohlman Field, 4-3.
Cougars' Orlando Calixte hit a homer in the top of the second, giving the Cougars an early 1-0 lead. The hits kept coming for Kane County as Jin-Ho Shin doubled in the top of the third, Justin Trapp singled, and Lane Adams singled scoring two runs to up the Cougars' lead to 3-0.
Cougars' starter, Edwin Carl pitched five innings, allowing just five hits and no runs, striking out ten.
Snappers' starter, Matt Tomshaw took the loss pitching five innings, allowing six hits and four runs. David Hurlbut made his second appearance with the Snappers in relief, going three innings allowing only two hits and no runs. Ryan O'Rourke closed the game pitching the ninth inning. O'Rourke did not allow a single hit or run.
Miguel Sano smashed his tenth home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth, scoring A.J. Pettersen putting the Snappers on the board. The Snappers had one last chance to rally back in the bottom of the ninth. Drew Leachman hit a leadoff single to get the momentum going. Cougars' Jonathan Dooley then hit Tyler Grimes, advancing Leachman. Sano was left in the on-deck circle as Pettersen struck out to end the ballgame, leaving the tying run, Tyler Grimes, on third.
Wang-Wei Lin went two for four tonight with an RBI and Pettersen went two for five.
The Snappers and Cougars tied out the series at 2-2. Beloit hits the road tomorrow for Peoria to take on the Peoria Chiefs in a three-game set. On the mound for the Snappers Wednesday night is LHP Steven Gruver vs. Peoria's LHP Kyler Burke. The Snappers are back in town Saturday to face the Clinton LumberKings.
