Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that goaltender Jeff Sanger has been recalled by the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Sanger, 24, is coming off an impressive weekend with the Ice as he posted back to back wins over the defending CHL Champion Memphis RiverKings which included a 5-0 win on Friday and a 3-2 victory on Saturday. Overall stats for the two wins included a 2-0-0 record, 1.00 goals-against-average and a .952 save percentage.

For the season, Sanger has started seven games for the Icemen and has recorded a 4-3-0 record, 2.28 GAA, one shutout and a .914 save percentage.

"It's a great opportunity for Jeff as he has played well for us," said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "Anytime you can get someone moved up to the next level, it's a positive for the organization and the league.

Sanger is expected to back up Norfolk netminder Steve Passmore when the Admirals play the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this Tuesday night from Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT. Sanger takes the roster spot of Craig Anderson, who was recalled by the Chicago Blackhawks due to an injury to Jocelyn Thibault.

The Ice is on the road for the next two games starting with Tuesday night's 8:05 p.m. tilt with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The team then gets ready for a home and home series with the Wichita Thunder as the two teams collide first in Wichita, KS at 8:30 p.m. Friday night, before returning to Indianapolis for a 7:00 p.m. face-off Saturday night at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Tickets for this weekend's game at the Fieldhouse can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayres, and the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
