Mudbugs' Carroll Named CHL Goaltender of the Week

BOSSIER CITY, LA â The Central Hockey League has announced that Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll has been named the Vaughn Goaltender of the Week for his accomplishments in two victories over the Fort Worth Brahmas last week.
Carroll began his impressive performance for the Mudbugs on Thursday with a 3-0 shutout of Fort Worth at the CenturyTel Center. The Oil City, Ontario native made 33 saves, including several spectacular ones, to earn his second shutout of the year and 12th of his professional career. On Saturday night, Carroll allowed just two goals in the Mudbugs' 3-2 victory over the Brahmas at the Fort Worth Convention Center. His 120 minutes of action last week included over 113 straight minutes of shutout hockey.
With his 56 career wins as a Mudbug, Carroll is now just two wins away from surpassing Kevin St. Pierre as the winningest goaltender in Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs history. The 2001 WPHL Goaltender and Rookie of the Year won 27 games in 2000-01 and 25 last season. This year, he owns a 4-3-1 record with a 2.12 goals against average and .929 save percentage.
Ken Carroll is the first Mudbug to receive a weekly honor from the Central Hockey League this year. Last season, he was named Goaltender of the Week on two occasions and was also named CHL Goaltender of the Month in February.
On Tuesday November 11th, the Mudbugs will celebrate Veterans Day with special "Patriotic Jerseys" sponsored by Ark-La-Tex Oil, Tools, & Supply in their game against the Indianapolis Ice at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Mudbugs puck courtesy of Red River Sanitors. On Friday night, the Bugs will continue their three-game homestand by hosting the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m. The Corpus Christi Rayz will then make their first appearance of the year at the CenturyTel Center on Saturday night for a 7:05 p.m. face-off.
