Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
MANITOWICH ROCKS THE BRAHMAS â In his first home game as a Bossier-Shreveport Mudbug, rookie forward Ryan Manitowich had a night to remember on Thursday against the Fort Worth Brahmas. Not only did he score his first professional goal, he notched his first pro hat trick in a 3-0 win at the CenturyTel Center. In the first period, he tapped a loose rebound in to give the Mudbugs the first goal of the game. Forty seconds later, he broke down the left wing side and chipped a beautiful backhander past Fort Worth goaltender Erasmo Saltarelli. Then in the third period, the Calgary native deflected a Quade Lightbody shot into the back of the net to complete the hat trick. Ken Carroll made 33 saves on the night, including some spectacular ones, and recorded his 12th professional shutout in the victory. The Mudbugs' penalty killing was perfect on the night and was able to kill off thirty seconds of a Fort Worth five-on-three advantage in the first period to preserve the lead.
BUGS HANG ON TO BEAT FT. WORTH AGAIN â On Saturday night, the Mudbugs used three power play goals, including two on a five-minute major penalty, to defeat the Fort Worth Brahmas for the second time in three days.
After a scoreless first period, Jason Campbell was hit into the boards from behind by Brahmas forward Justin Williams which resulted in a five minute major penalty. On the extended power play chance, Campbell got revenge by scoring his second goal of the year on a Chris Brassard rebound. The Mudbugs then scored again on the same power play chance at 18:23 as Forbes MacPherson's slap shot from the blue line beat Fort Worth goaltender Erasmo Saltarelli. In the third period, MacPherson struck again by deflecting a Craig Soke shot past Saltarelli for his fourth of the year. The goal was the Mudbugs' third on the power play and gave them a 3-0 lead. The Brahmas then got two pucks past Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll and pulled Saltarelli for the final seconds of the third period, but failed to get the tying goal.
