Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Stockton, CA-- Ariel Sandoval's second hit of the night knocked in the winning run, as the Quakes rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Stockton Ports on Tuesday night.

Sandoval's RBI single plated Johan Mieses with the tie-breaking run in the ninth inning, helping the Quakes to break their season-high five-game losing streak.

Tied at 2-2 in the ninth, Mieses led off the inning by walking against Stockton reliever Carlos Navas. After a wild pitch moved Mieses into scoring position, Sandoval grounded a single up the middle, allowing Mieses to score the go-ahead run, making it 3-2.

Isaac Anderson, who was bumped to the bullpen on Tuesday night to make way for Dodgers' rehabbing starter Brett Anderson, finished it off in the ninth inning. Anderson (3-0) struck out the side in the ninth to preserve his third win in three total appearances for the Quakes. The right-hander scattered two hits and walked one over four scoreless frames, striking out seven along the way.

The Ports got a pair of unearned runs off the Dodgers' rehabber in the first inning, as the former Stockton Port saw his defense make two errors in the frame to make it 2-0.

Mieses blasted his team-leading 19th home run of the year with one out in the second, putting Rancho on the board at 2-1 against Stockton starter James Naile.

Brett Anderson would finish his second rehab appearance after four total innings, as he allowed just the two uenarned runs on three hits, while striking out eight hitters.

The Quakes drew even in the fifth, when Quakes' catcher Will Smith, making his Cal League debut, singled and scored on Ariel Sandoval's first of two run-scoring hits. Smith finished the game 2-for-4 and threw out a would-be base-stealer defensively.

Rancho (20-19, 62-47) will look for the series-win on Wednesday, as they face the Ports in the rubber-game of the three-game set. Felipe Gonzalez (2-5) will throw for the Quakes, while the Ports will answer with Kyle Friedrichs (3-4). Game time for the series-finale will be 7:10pm.

After this current seven-game road trip concludes, your Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 9th for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans that bring ten CRV-eligible bottles or cans will receive a free Club Seat Ticket to the game.
