San Jose Giants Host 5th Annual "A Giant Luau" August 19

SAN JOSE, CA- The San Jose Giants bring Hawaiian culture to Municipal Stadium for the 5th Annual A Giant Luau, presented by Alaska Airlines, on Friday, August 19 at 7:00 PM against the High Desert Mavericks. The evening will be full of Hawaiian festivities ranging from hula dancers and island music to Hawaiian cuisine and a special pig roasting ceremony in Turkey Mike's BBQ. In addition, the team will be wearing special Hawaiian themed jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.

"A Giant Luau is one of the most anticipated events of the season. Whether you are looking to experience the Hawaiian culture or you could use a free trip on Alaska Airlines to Hawaii, one thing is certain, this night is guaranteed to be fun for the entire family," said Juliana Paoli, Chief Marketing Officer of the San Jose Giants. "This is a great opportunity to enjoy some San Jose Giants baseball, and escape to Hawaii with a Luau.even if it's only for one night."

Fans that wear their Hawaiian gear to the game Friday night will receive two FREE future game tickets. Gates open at 5:30 PM so make sure to be one of the first 1,000 fans in attendance who will receive festive leis and Alaska Airlines Thundersticks. The Giants will be hosting a silent auction of limited edition game-worn players and coaches Hawaiian print jerseys. The highest bidder will be able to go on the field following the game and receive their new autographed jersey right off the respective San Jose Giant's back. The proceeds go to the Giants Sports Foundation.

Turkey Mike's Famous BBQ will be serving native Hawaiian cuisine including roasted pig, Hawaiian style burgers, macaroni salad and much more. The Hukilau Restaurant will also be serving authentic cuisine. Traditional music from the islands will be provided by Eono Kane, accompanied by Hula dancers from Halau Na Wai Ola. One lucky fan will walk away with a trip for two to Hawaii Courtesy of Alaska Airlines. A Tacky Tourist Contest and other festive luau themed promotions will take place throughout the night. Vendors with Hawaiian goods and snacks will add to the Luau festivities.
