
San Jose Barracuda Pick up First Home Win at SAP Center

SAN JOSE, CA -The San Jose Barracuda (3-3-0-1, 7pts) presented by Barracuda Networks got their first home win in franchise history with a thrilling 4-2 victory over the visiting Ontario Reign (5-1-2-0, 12pts) in front of 4,039 fans at the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon. The Barracuda are back in action on Saturday, November 7 at 1:15pm vs. the San Diego Gulls on "Teddy Bear Toss Day" presented by Kaiser Permanente at the SAP Center.
Aaron Dell got his third win of the season with 32 saves on 34 shots. John McCarthy (1-1-2), Mirco Mueller (1-0-1), Jeremy Langlois (1-0-1) and Nikolay Goldobin (1-1-2) all scored for the Barracuda to hand Ontario their first regulation loss of the season. Peter Budaj made 25 saves in the losing effort while Michael Mersch and Ryan Horvat scored for the Reign as they were playing their 3rd game in three days.
John McCarthy (1st) of the Barracuda scored the first goal of the game at 2:45 off of a back door pass from teammate Trevor Parkes, breaking the Barracuda team scoreless streak at 164:04 minutes. Michael Mersch (5th) scored a power play goal for the Reign at 10:33 and tied the game up. Shots were 13-10 in favor of Ontario through the first period.
Mirco Mueller (1st) scored a power play goal at 14:06 in the 2nd period to give the Barracuda the lead with a big blast from the point after a Scott Timmins faceoff win. Ryan Horvat (1st) answered quickly for the Reign, scoring less than a minute later at 14:55 to tie the game back up after a goal mouth scramble in front of Aaron Dell. Both teams recorded 9 shots in the 2nd period.
Jeremy Langlois (1st) scored on a wraparound goal at 16:15 to give the Barracuda the lead for the third time during the game. Aaron Dell was impressive in the 3rd turning away all 12 shots to secure the win.
Nikolay Goldobin (1st) scored an empty net goal at 19:01 to put the Barracuda up 4-2. Shots were 12-10 in favor of the Reign in the 3rd period as San Jose picked up their first win at the SAP Center.

Mark Cundari and Melker Karlsson (day-to-day) did not dress for the Barracuda...captain Bryan Lerg and defenseman Dylan Demelo are on recall with the SJ Sharks....before the game San Jose Sharks alum Kyle McLaren dropped the ceremonial first puck... Karl Stollery, John McCarthy, and Micheal Haley wore the alternate captain "A's" on their jerseys.

The San Jose Barracuda host a teddy bear toss presented by Kaiser Permanente on Saturday, November 7 at 1:15pm vs. the San Diego Gulls. The teddy bear toss presented by Kaiser Permanente encourages fans to bring a new stuffed animal to the game to throw onto the ice following the Barracuda's first goal of the afternoon. The tossed stuffed animals will then be donated to local charities: Doors open at 12:30pm as the San Jose Barracuda host the San Diego Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks) at 1:15pm. November 7 marks the first of 13 San Jose Barracuda and San Jose Sharks doubleheaders at the SAP Center this season. The San Jose Sharks host the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30pm.
