DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Wild (3-6-1-1, 8 points) were defeated by the Rockford IceHogs (6-3-0-1, 13 points) 2-0 in front of 3,339 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday evening. Rockford goalie Mark Visentin (1-1-0-0) stopped all 38 Iowa shots, including 17 shots in the first period for his first career AHL shutout. The IceHogs have shutout the Wild in two consecutive games dating back to Friday, Oct. 30. Rockford forward Garret Ross scored in the first period and forward Chris DeSousa added an empty-net goal in the third. Wild goalie Leland Irving (2-2-1-1) stopped 28 of 29 shots in the loss. Iowa hosts Milwaukee on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Rockford forward Garret Ross opened the scoring at 8:55 of the first period. Ross received a pass at the front of the net from center Dennis Rasmussen. Turning towards the goal Ross backhanded the puck through Irving's five-hole for a 1-0 IceHogs lead.
IceHogs forward Chris DeSousa scored an empty-net goal at 18:45 of the third period, giving Rockford a 2-0 lead. DeSousa received a flip pass from defenseman Kirill Gotovets after stepping out of the penalty box. Uncontested in the offensive zone, DeSousa slid the puck into the empty net.
Iowa hosts the Milwaukee Admirals Thursday Nov. 5 at 10:30 a.m. Thursday's game is the team's annual "Wild About Education" Day at Wells Fargo Arena. The Wild turns Wells Fargo Arena into the largest classroom in the state by using a variety of educational programs to teach students about the game of hockey and how it correlates to the classroom. Upon entering the game, each student is given a Wild About Education workbook, presented by Hy-Vee. The Science Center of Iowa will be on hand to provide extra educational information during intermissions.
The following weekend the Wild have a pair of games with the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8. Saturday's game will be at 7:00 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. All ladies are invited to come celebrate "Ladies Night" with the Wild. Women (21 and above) receive a $1.00-discount off glasses of wine. Also, fans may purchase the Jim Beam apple deal - $5 for a regular Beam Orchard Twist. Saturday features a clothing drive benefitting Goodwill. Fans who donate an article of clothing receive a free ticket voucher to a future Iowa Wild home game. Fans may enjoy the Legends Brewdog Pack, which includes one ticket, one beer, one hot dog, and one free beer (Budweiser or Bud Light) at Legends American Grill. Also, fans may purchase the Bring Your Buds Bundle, consisting of one ticket, one 16 oz. Budweiser or Bud Light, one hot dog, one popcorn and $1 OFF a 25 oz. Budweiser or Bud Light at the gam. After the game, those that purchase the Bring Your Buds Bundle receive one FREE Budweiser or Bud Light at Carl's Place.
Nov. 8th's game takes place at 3 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. Sunday features a "Salute to Local Heroes" pregame charity game, benefitting Kids Living Brave. The Sunday combo pack courtesy of Subway and Star 102.5 FM will also be available. Fans receive one ticket, one hot dog, one soda, and one Subway coupon for $12.
Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website - www.Iowawild.com , the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team's 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
