The San Diego Strike Force have re-signed Indoor Football League veteran Byron Cooper to their 2024 Indoor Football League roster.

Cooper (6-0, 220, Philadelphia, PA) rejoins San Diego after being acquired via a trade in June with the Vegas Knigh Hawks. He started the 2023 season with the Duke City Gladiators.

In six games with the Strike Force last season, Byron recorded 18.5 total tackles (13 solo), three tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, a blocked kick, and a safety. Prior to San Diego, he saw action in two games while in Vegas and recorded five tackles, one sack, and a pass breakup. In his two games with Duke City to start the year, he recorded 12 total tackles in two games along with 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

In 2022 with the Duke City Gladiators, Cooper appeared in 15 games and was second on the team with 71.5 total tackles (46 solo, 17.5 tackles for loss) while adding eight sacks, three pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, and one safety.

"Byron gives us a lot of versatility on defense," said head coach Taylor Genuser. "He can bring speed off the edge as a pass rusher while also possessing the ability to drop into coverage both from the defensive line and linebacker positions. We're excited to have his experience back and looking forward to seeing him compete in 2024."

Cooper has over six years of indoor football experience, which started with the Amarillo Venom of the Champions Indoor Football League (CIF) in 2018. He was later signed by the Duke City Gladiators in 2021. He played his collegiate career at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

The Strike Force will open the 2024 season on the road against the Duke Gladiators before hosting the San Antonio Gunslingers for their home opener at Pechanga Arena on Monday, April 1st.
