Northern Arizona Wranglers Sign Wide Receiver Jacquez Carter

Carter joins the Wranglers for his first season in the Indoor Football League. In early 2023, Carter was one of roughly 50 players invited to a private tryout for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Carter spent the last two seasons of his collegiate career at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. Carter was incredible for the Wildcats in both 2021 and 2022, hauling in 114 receptions for 1,568 yards and 16 touchdowns over two seasons. In 2021, Carter also accounted for one rushing and one passing touchdown.

Carter's list of collegiate accolades during his two seasons at Indiana Wesleyan is extremely impressive. Carter earned the 2022 Offensive Player of the Year award for his conference, (the Mid-States Football Association Mideast Offensive Player of the Year award.) Carter also earned a selection to the 2022 AFCA NAIA All-American First Team as a senior. Carter was named to the All-MSFA Mideast First Team during both 2021 and 2022. Carter received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan with fields of study being Animal Science and Biology.

Prior to Carter's an amazing two-year stint for the Wildcats, he spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. Carter received a scholarship offer to play at Missouri State after playing one season at the Junior College level. In 2018, Carter played football at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz. In the spring of 2019, Carter relocated to Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, Miss., Carter received an offer to play at Missouri State before the 2019 season.

Carter is originally from Naples, Fla., where he attended Palmetto Ridge High School. As far as his inspiration to start playing football at the age of four, Carter credits many members of his family. Carter explained by saying, "I was born into it, my dad, uncle, older brother, and cousins all played football, it was just a normal family thing." As far as what continues to drive Carter to continue playing, he stated, "Growing up, football has been all that I know, I see no reason to stop after all of the work that I have put in." Carter expanded on this by saying, "My mom and my dad really blessed me growing up, I want to bless my family, and bless myself through playing football."

When asked about what he is looking forward to about joining the Wranglers, Carter stated, "I am looking forward to a new opportunity in a new city to showcase myself as a player, I am blessed with an opportunity to play professional football, continue my career, and be a part of a new fan base." Carter acknowledged that many players do not get the opportunity to play football at the professional level in any capacity and is grateful to be joining the Wranglers. Carter added to this by saying, "I have traveled a lot through my college years from playing football, I am excited to bring my family to a new state and new city through football." What can Wranglers fans expect from Carter on the field? Carter stated, "The fans will get a hardworking, explosive, and playmaking guy from South Florida, we have a different breed of players in South Florida." Carter expanded on this by saying, "I will go out and give everything that I got, day in and day out. I will embrace the culture (in NAZ) and am work hard to bring another Championship Victory to the team."
