San Diego Gulls Release Goaltender Christian Frey from PTO

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has released goaltender Christian Frey from a professional tryout (PTO).

Frey, 25 (6/12/93), did not appear in a game with San Diego and has yet to make his AHL debut. The 5-10, 180-pound goaltender has yet to appear in a game this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. In his first professional season in 2017-18, Frey went 7-14-3 in 29 ECHL games with Rapid City.

In four seasons at Ohio State University (Big Ten Conference), the Arlington, Texas native posted a 36-34-11 record with three shutouts, a 2.86 GAA and .913 SV% in 87 games from 2013-17. Frey was named to the Big Ten Second All-Star Team in 2016-17, while he was named to the Big Ten All-Rookie Team in 2013-14.
